I hope that our learning platform will give you a feel for our exciting and forward thinking school. The purpose of this site is two fold; firstly to provide general information about all school activities and secondly to provide children with access to tasks and information connected to their classwork. All children have a user name and password.
St Paul's Church of England Primary School is a Voluntary Controlled School that caters for children from 4-11 years. We pride ourselves on our small school ethos where staff, pupils and parents all know each other well. The secure and friendly environment enables us to emphasise politeness and consideration for others. Our Governing body provides both support and challenge. Curriculum Governors make frequent visits to school and all have subject/phase links. "Friends of St Paul's" our PTA also provide fantastic support for our staff and children.
Our staff have high, yet realistic expectations of the pupils and plan varied and interesting work that captures the imagination and allows each to reach his or her potential. Over the past 5 years our Key Stage 2 test results have been significantly higher than national and LA averages on 4 occassions. Our curriculum is broad, balanced and rich; we are fortunate to be so close to the centre of York, and visits to the city's museums, galleries and historic buildings support first hand learning. After school, a wide range of extra curricular activity is available to engage the children's interest and energy. After school clubs this term include Choir, Flutes, Table Tennis, Football and Christmas Crafts.
Our school presently has 171.6 pupils, 10 teachers and 5 teaching assistants. There are 7 classes, one for each year group and sometimes they work together on joint projects. We also have many whole school topics where everyone can join in, including parents!
We work closely with parents, inviting you to be involved in all aspects of the school's life, from helping out in classes to attending our fabulous productions or being a member of our parents group: The Friends of St Paul's School.
Links with St Paul's Church are strong and secure. They underpin the Christian principles that guide the spiritual and moral development of our pupils. Throughout the year, we hold occasional special services at St Paul's Church during the school day, to which you are warmly invited.
Why not pay us a visit and see for yourself what an exciting place it is.
Mr R Knowles, Headteacher
